The role that vitamin D could play in the fight against Covid-19 is yet to be demonstrated while its benefits for general health are undoubted, especially for women (essential for the absorption of calcium and therefore for women, who are more at risk of osteoporosis). It also has a role in boosting the immune system and this is what makes it invaluable at this time of year.
In fact, vitamin D is normally synthesized by our body thanks to the absorption of the sun's rays, in winter we tend to stay indoors more and reaching a good quantity of this vitamin only with food is very difficult.
